Ministers resign over graft scandal

Two Namibian Ministers have resigned following a Wikileaks report exposing alleged corruption in the fishing industry. Iceland-based multinational fishing company Samherji is suspected of bribing senior Namibian officials for continued access to the country's shores, the Wikileaks' documents reveal. A report on the News24 site notes that Fisheries Minister Bernard Esau and Justice Minister Sakeus Shanghala have both resigned, presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari confirmed. The scandal surfaced during the last leg of campaigning for the 27 November presidential elections. Wikileaks said Namibian authorities have been investigating the case for almost a year.
