Musk accuses Malema of inciting genocide

SA-born tech billionaire, Elon Musk last week called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to take action against Julius Malema for ‘openly pushing for genocide of white people in SA’. IoL reports that Musk was slammed for his tweet that was not well received as people said there was no genocide in the country and that he was spreading misinformation. And many social media yesterday called for Die Stem to be either removed from the anthem or to sit down when it is sung, calling it a hate crime song and a remnant of SA’s apartheid past. As previously reported in Legalbrief Today, DA leader John Steenhuisen says his party will file charges against Malema and government with the UN Human Rights Council. This follows events at the EFF's 10th birthday bash at the FNB Stadium last Saturday. Steenhuisen accused Malema of inciting racial violence during the event. He said for far too long people in government, the media, civil society and constitutional institutions refused to acknowledge Malema as a ‘blood-thirsty tyrant and demagogue’.
