University suspends students

Malawi’s Mzuzu University has suspended 14 students over the recent space of violence in protest against a new policy on the payment of fees and access to examination results. The Nyasa Times reports that university registrar Yonamu Ngwira said the decision for the suspension ‘had been necessitated by the need to restore order and assure safety and security on campus’. The students have been prohibited from entering the campus, pending a hearing into the matter.
