Lagos woman charged with child abuse

Lagos police have arrested a woman filmed abusing a young boy and then locking him in a caged kennel with dogs. The suspect is seen beating the orphan with a belt and dragging him into an empty kennel. BBC News reports that the footage caused outrage on social media and rewards were offered to anyone that could track down the woman. Police spokesperson Dolapo Badmos confirmed that the suspect is in custody and will appear in court this week. The child has been rescued and was being kept in a shelter provided by the state government.
