A French journalist who disappeared in Mali last month says he has been kidnapped by a jihadist group and has pleaded for help from French authorities. CNN has been unable to independently verify the social media clip. Olivier Dubois says he was kidnapped in central Mali on 8 April by a local Islamist group affiliated al-Qaeda that is known as JNIM, an acronym for the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims. ‘I'm speaking to my family, my friends and the French authorities for them to do everything in their power to free me,’ he said. The French Foreign Ministry confirmed Dubois had ‘disappeared in Mali’ and said authorities were carrying out technical verifications of the video.
