Former Kenyan half-marathon world record holder Abraham Kiptum has been given a four-year doping ban, the Athletics Integrity Unit has confirmed. A report on the allAfrica site notes that this follows irregularities that showed up on Kiptum's biological passport, which is used to track potential doping. The athlete has denied any form of doping or blood manipulation. Legalbrief reports that Kiptum found fame on 28 October 2018 in the Valencia Half Marathon in Spain with a finishing time of 58:18. This record stood until September when it was broken by another Kenyan, Geoffrey Kamworor.
