Kenya gears for global population summit

Kenya has finalised plans to host the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD25) which is scheduled to be held in Nairobi from 12 November to revitalise the reproductive health agenda for women and girls. Macharia Kamau, principal secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry said the government and bilateral partners would ensure that the three-day global population summit realised its core objectives 'and we believe it will mark a historic milestone for reproductive health rights for women and girls'. A report on the IoL site notes that Kenya has partnered with the Government of Denmark and the UN Population Fund to host the event which will be attended by about 10 000 delegates.
