Kaizer Chiefs charged over Covid-19 dispute

Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs has been charged for failing to honour its DStv Premiership fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows last month. The Citizen reports that Soweto giants in November asked for all its December fixtures to be postponed, following an outbreak of Covid-19 at its training camp. However, the PSL refused to allow the postponements, noting an executive committee decision that Covid-19 could not be used to call off fixtures. Chiefs did not turn up for games against City and Arrows, and could face 3-0 defeats being awarded against them in both matches. The hearing will be heard on 21 January.
