Rwanda and the African continent are undergoing positive transformation and progress despite doubts and perceptions by First World countries. That’s according to President Paul Kagame who has addressed the World Leaders Forum on the side-lines of the UN General Assembly. The New Times reports that he said Africa’s progress could be gauged by developments such as the continental free trade area, peacekeeping initiatives, regional integration as well as economic growth. ‘Big changes are underway. The African Union has undergone financial and institutional reform to make it more effective. One outcome is the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area, the world's largest,’ Kagame said. He added that AU member states have contributed more than $100m in recent years to its peace fund.
