Irregular county audit flagged

The Nairobi county government did not produce supporting documents for the expenditure of more than US$57.8m for the financial year ending June 2019. This is according to a report by Auditor-General Edward Ouko which audited funds which were held in three different bank accounts. The Daily Nation reports that the Public Finance Management Act 2012 requires the county treasury to ensure proper management and control of accounting for the finances of county governments. Nevertheless, Nairobi ignored this requirement and irregularly paid suppliers $43.6m.
