Zambian authorities yesterday arrested former Community Development and Social Services Minister Emerine Kabanshi for alleged corruption that led Britain to suspend aid to the country last year. Kabanshi is being probed for 'abuse of authority of office', according to a statement from Zambian anti-corruption and anti-money laundering agencies. A BusinessLIVE report notes that she was released on bail and will appear in court at a date yet to be fixed. The UK froze aid payments to Zambia last September, highlighting concerns of alleged fraud and corruption by President Edgar Lungu's administration.
