Former resort MD files defamation suit

The former MD of the Namibia Wildlife Resort (NWR) has filed a lawsuit against her former employer claiming US$434 000 for defamation. A summons reportedly seen by The Namibian reveals that Zelna Hengari is suing the parastatal over claims made in a statement issued by the board on 5 April 2018 which was published in local newspapers. The statement was issued in response to a newspaper report relating to a 30-year joint partnership agreement between NWR and Sun Karros Lifestyle Safaris. The board alleged she had signed the agreement without its approval. She has listed Environment Minister Pohamba Shifeta and Public Enterprise Minister Leon Jooste as respondents.
