Ex-military chief faces hate speech charges
Popular Democratic Movement leader McHenry Venaani says his party will lay criminal charges against a former Namibian Defence Force chief for allegedly inciting violence and threatening the murder of opposition leaders. This after Martin Shalli was quoted as saying Swapo members who resign and start their own political parties should be killed. The Namibian reports that Venaani said ‘they have nothing else to say than resorting to intimidation … Shalli will have his day in court’. The Affirmative Repositioning movement has also condemned Shalli's remarks, asking him to withdraw and apologise to the nation.
