Eight suspects detained over Ouagadougou attack

Authorities in Burkina Faso have arrested eight Burkinabe nationals in connection with attacks on army headquarters and the French Embassy. Prosecutor Maizan Sereme said two of the suspects are soldiers. Another is a former soldier who was kicked out of the military after a 2011 mutiny. A report on The Washington Post site notes that eight assailants were killed two Fridays ago during an attack in the capital, Ouagadougou. Legalbrief reports that guerrillas last year attacked a Turkish restaurant killing 19 people and 30 people died when a hotel was struck in 2016.
