Diplomatic spat over Ghanaian compound

Nigeria has summoned a senior Ghanaian diplomat to complain over ‘attacks’ on its embassy compound in Accra that saw a building demolished. Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama confirmed that he summoned Iva Denoo, the Charge d'Affaires of Ghana’s High Commission, to demand urgent explanation on ‘the recent attacks on a residential building in our diplomatic premises and reinforcement of security around diplomatic premises and staff’. A report on the News24 site notes that armed men reportedly entered the compound in in the CBD on Friday to supervise bulldozers. The incident occured five months after the Foreign Ministry denied reports that the Nigerian mission had been ‘evicted’ from Accra because it was encroaching on private property.
