Authorities probe medical waste discovery

Highly infectious medical waste including needles and syringes, circumcision blades and contraceptive implants have been discovered just metres away from houses in Windhoek's Goreangab suburb. The Namibian reports that the Ministry of Health has launched an investigation to establish which medical facility is responsible. ‘Whenever there is blood or human body fluid, then it is infectious because we don't know what the other persons possess in their immune system,’ said health practitioner Elvis Handura. He said the medical team that specialises in healthcare waste would ‘contain the area’.
