Arrest warrant issued for popular MP

A magistrate's court has issued criminal summons against Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, after he failed to appear in court for the hearing of a criminal case against him. Kyagulanyi and four others had been accused of disobeying the Public Order Management Act by holding a public meeting on 11 July 2018 in Kampala without giving notice and for refusing to cooperate with the police. The East African reports that the lawmaker was allegedly objecting to the the introduction of the new social media and mobile money taxes. ‘The matter is hereby adjourned to 12 August and criminal summons issued for the suspects,’ said Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu.
