$100m compensation for families of 737 Max victims

Boeing last week announced that it would pay out $100m to help support the families and communities of the 346 people who died in the Ethiopian Airlines and Indonesian airline Lion Air 737 Max crashes over the past year. CNN reports that the company said the money would be given to local non-profits and community groups who would help distribute the funds. It will be used to support education, including college tuition or other schooling expenses for children of victims, 'and hardship or living expenses for impacted families'. Families of the victims who accept funds will not be required to give up the right to pursue legal action against the company which is facing several lawsuits over the 737 Max incidences. 'We are sorry for the tragic loss of lives in both of these accidents and these lives lost will continue to weigh heavily on our hearts and on our minds for years to come. The families and loved ones of those on board have our deepest sympathies, and we hope this initial outreach can help bring them comfort,' said Boeing chairperson Dennis Muilenburg.
