UK’s Ladbrokes barred from Netherlands e-business

The ruling follows a lawsuit from the Dutch lotto after Ladbrokes placed adverts in several Dutch newspapers during the World Cup three years ago. Ladbrokes does not hold a permit to offer bets in the Netherlands. A Ladbrokes spokesperson said that while the ruling was entirely expected under Dutch law, he said recent rulings from the European Court of Justice could force member states to open up their controls on betting.
