Paedophiles jailed in landmark case

The Daily Mail reports that two of the men discussed modelling their crimes on the Soham murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. Their activities spiralled when they targeted two sisters aged 13 and 14, and hatched plans to pounce on them as they walked through the woods to school. However, they left a trail of computer \'conversation\' which led to their downfall. According to Out-Law.com, police said that this was the first time chat room logs alone had been used to prove conspiracy to rape charges. The logs came to light when police confiscated computers after one of the men told police about the plot in January 2006, claiming he was a ‘vigilante’ gathering evidence. A UK police officer is facing years in jail after he admitted trying to groom a 12-year-old girl for sex. The Edgware & Mill Hill Times reports that Detective Constable Glenn Algar met the girl on the Internet before bombarding her with text messages on a daily basis. But the ‘girl\' he was trying to meet was actually a fellow Scotland Yard police officer posing as a child.
