Communications: More time for input to mobile broadband inquiry

Publish date: 20 March 2019
Issue Number: 1773
Diary: Legalbrief eLaw

The first phase of an Independent Communications Authority of SA inquiry into the state of competition across the mobile broadband services value chain has been extended to 29 March, reports Pam Saxby for Legalbrief Policy Watch.  According to a notice gazetted yesterday, this will allow stakeholders more time to complete a questionnaire released last November with the aim of obtaining information and opinions on financial matters, products, revenue, input costs, ‘switching’, coverage, quality, wholesale services, market dynamics and (in the case of network operators) retail customers. The questionnaire was followed by a document clarifying the type of information required. Input received will be consolidated in a discussion document to be the focus of public hearings aimed at determining the need for market or market segment regulation.
