ProBono.Org is a dynamic NGO that works with the private legal profession to provide pro bono legal services to the poor and contributes to ensuring that the unmet access to justice needs of impoverished people living in South Africa are met. ProBono.Org is currently setting up an office in Cape Town and has three positions available: Cape Town Manager

The Cape Town Manager will be an attorney who will run and manage the Cape Town office of ProBono.Org.

The position requires the incumbent to support and work with the National Director of ProBono.Org to ensure the well being of ProBono.Org in Cape Town. This involves ensuring that high quality services are offered to clients by pro bono attorneys and advocates and ProBono.Org staff; and building relationships with the private legal profession and other stakeholders to enhance the delivery of pro bono services.

Key Responsibilities of this exciting and challenging role include:

·         Running a successful legal service for people living in Khayelitsha and surrounding areas

·         Managing all matters from time of consultation until such matter is closed or referred to an attorney or advocate

·         Conducting research, preparing instructions to attorneys and briefs to advocates and undertaking all actions required to ensure high quality legal assistance

·         Recruiting and managing relationships with legal practitioners

·         Maintaining, building and enhancing strong relationships with NGOs, CBOs, law clinics and other pro bono and public interest law initiatives

·         Overall responsibility for marketing, communications and developing the brand of the CT office

·         Fund-raising by cultivating new donors to support the CT office

·         Preparation of funding applications and donor reports, articles for newsletters and social media, promotional materials and other written materials and reports required

·         Ensuring that data management as required by ProBono.Org is maintained

·         Overall responsibility for staff and financial management and administration of the office

Requirements for the position:

·         LLB degree

·         Admitted attorney with at least three years’ experience

·         A demonstrable commitment to, and interest in public interest law and social justice

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Computer literate

·         Currently based in Cape Town

·         A valid driver’s license, own transport
