Pikoli joins doubters on NPA's Zuma appeal

Former head of the NPA Vusi Pikoli is another legal expert who believes the chances of success are slim in the NPA’s decision to seek leave to appeal the High Court ruling that corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma be reinstated. A News24 report quotes him as saying at the Big Issue’s business breakfast yesterday: ‘National Director of Public Prosecutions Shaun Abrahams has the right to take the decision to appeal, but the issue lies on the grounds. They look quite thin, I must confess.’ Abrahams lodged the application for leave to appeal on Monday, noting there was ‘considerable public interest’ at stake in the matter. Last month a full Bench of the Gauteng High Court (Pretoria) ruled that the decision to drop the 783 charges of corruption faced by Zuma was 'irrational'.
