Carmel Rickard to write for Legalbrief

Leading legal commentator Carmel Rickard has joined the Legalbrief team. Rickard, who has been a journalist since 1981 and in 1998 completed an LLM in Constitutional Law cum laude at the University of Natal, will write a twice monthly column, A Matter of Justice, which will be delivered as an additional service to ALL subscribers to the Legalbrief suite of current awareness publications. Rickard, a Nieman fellow to Harvard in 1992, will examine important local judgments and occasionally comment on major law news issues of broad appeal. She is a highly-respected writer on legal matters and the author of several books, including a biography of the life and times of Anton Mostert, who, as a judge of the Natal High Court, blew the whistle on the Infogate scandal. She was also legal editor of the Sunday Times newspaper for several years. Her first article exclusively for Legalbrief subscribers will be delivered by email by mid-morning on Wednesday 8 July. It will also be available on the Legalbrief website.
