Court backs Libya in commercial lawsuit

A Paris court of the International Commerce Chamber has ruled in favour of Libya in the case lodged against the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and the Transportation Projects Authority. The Transportation Projects Authority confirmed that it had won a case against Odebrecht engineering and construction company, TAV: Tepe and Akfen and Constructors Union, which was seeking $644m. However, the Libya Observer reports that the court ordered a payment of just $56m. Legalbrief reports that the case related to a 2017 agreement between Tripoli and an Italian consortium to rebuild Tripoli International Airport. In terms of the agreement, two terminals would be built. In December, Libya also won a case against the French firm Business Network which was seeking an $80m payment.
