Zuma's nephew confirms he's still in SA

President Jacob Zuma’s nephew, Khulubuse Zuma, who was reported last week to have left SA to live in the United Arab Emirates, has reportedly confirmed to Solidarity general-secretary Gideon du Plessis that he was still living in SA. BusinessLIVE notes Zuma is being sought by the liquidators of the Pamodzi Gold group because he has defaulted on the instalments due under a settlement agreement last year. Zuma was chair of Aurora Empowerment Systems, which agreed to buy the Orkney and Grootvlei mines but instead stripped them of all their assets and did not pay workers when they managed the mines in 2009/10. He had agreed with the liquidators to pay about R23m and had paid between R9m and R10m up to July, but nothing further. He is reportedly in such a financially constrained situation he cannot afford legal representation to defend an application for his provisional sequestration, which will be heard on 8 December. Zuma is in the Eastern Cape and not at his official residence in KZN, says Rapport. According to his travel records, Zuma often visits Dubai. John Walker, attorney for the Pamodzi liquidators, says the sequestration proceedings will go ahead regardless of whether the sheriff manages to serve papers on him. Sequestration proceedings will also be started against Zondwa Mandela this week, Walker says.
