President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wife has given up her seat as a legislator to focus more on her role as the First Lady. The Standard reports that although there is no law preventing Auxilia Mnangagwa from retaining her Chirumanzu seat, she is anxious to focus on her philanthropic work. ‘She now becomes the mother of the nation. She is now MP everywhere she goes,’ Mnangagwa told a crowd of ‘teary’ Zanu-PF supporters over the weekend during a rally held at the Mvuma stadium. The First Lady took over the constituency when her husband was appointed Deputy President in 2015.
