Liberian President George Weah has withdrawn the nomination of Charles Gibson as Justice Minister-designate. Weah last month gave posts to a mixture of inexperienced but loyal figures from his Congress for Democratic Change party, along with some key members held over from the former government. However, the appointment of Gibson sparked a storm of controversy. As previously reported in Legalbrief Today, Gibson was once stripped of his legal licence after embezzling $25 000 from a client. The Daily Observer reports that Weah's decision was made in an official communication to Senate leader Albert Chie.
