A US diplomat has been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident in Nairobi, Kenya, after allegedly brandishing his gun at the other driver in the accident. Police chief Robinson Thuku said the unidentified diplomat fled before police apprehended him and disarmed him. A report on the News24 site notes that Thuku said police are investigating the circumstances that led him to draw his gun ‘but the traffic offence is obvious’. He said the diplomat was released on bail. The public affairs office for the US Embassy in Nairobi confirmed the arrest but denied that the diplomat brandished a weapon.
