Ugandan police have arrested a government Minister for allegedly taking a bribe from a businessman. Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye said Herbert Kabafunzaki, a junior Minister in charge of labour and industrial relations, has been detained on corruption-related charges. A report on the News24 site notes that this is the first time a Cabinet-level official has been arrested on allegations of bribery. Kabafunzaki was arrested on Saturday at a luxury hotel in the capital, Kampala, where he allegedly received a bribe sent by a Sudanese hotelier in Uganda.
