Suspended MPs seek court review of suspension

Three Tanzanian MPs have approached the High Court for a judicial review of the Speaker's decision to suspend them. The Tanzania Daily News reports that opposition Chief Whip Tundu Lissu said the ruling is against parliamentary standing orders. ‘The court can grant them permission (to appeal) or deny it….it depends,’ he said. The MPs were suspended for ‘violating the parliamentary standing orders that guide the House business’.
