Suspected rapist found dead in custody

A Botswana teenager accused of raping a female has hanged himself in custody. Mmegi reports that police confirmed that the 17-year-old suspect from Lethakane was charged with raping a 14-year-old villager on a farm over a period of three days. After she informed her parents, he was scheduled to undergo a medical examination at the Letlhakane Primary Hospital but his body was discovered in a holding cell. ‘We have no further suspicions other than that the deceased took his life,’ said police spokesperson Michael Maphephu.
