Surge in ‘battered’ husbands reported

Nigeria’s Attorney General Adeniji Kazeem says 55 men have approached the authorities in Lagos State over the past eight months claiming they have been ‘battered’ by their wives. The Premium Times reports that Kazeem, who is also chair of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Organisation, expressed concern at the growing trend, noting that just 14 cases in the same category were reported last year. A total of 852 cases of domestic violence, including rape and child neglect, were reported.
