Speaker targets fake nails and eyelashes

Lawmakers in Tanzania have been banned from entering Parliament with fake nails and eyelashes. Speaker Job Ndugai said he imposed the ban after Deputy Health Minister Faustine Ndugulile had raised concerns about the health risks they posed. The Citizen reports that he said he is also consulting with ‘experts’ before deciding on whether or not to ban MPs who have excessive make-up. Deputy Health Minister Faustine Ndugulile that a local hospital treats at least 700 women every year for complications that are directly linked to the use of false eyelashes, false finger nails and skin bleaching.
