Teachers arrested for alleged al-Shabaab ties

Authorities in Somalia have arrested seven school principals whom they accuse of meeting al-Shabaab militants. BBC News reports that they are accused of planning to change the curriculum at private schools to favour the Islamist group's ideology. Each of the principals is responsible for around 1 000 students, ranging in age from seven to 15. Al-Shabaab has been waging a war against Somalia's federal government for the past 10 years. Information Minister Mahad Osman said the teachers will appear in court once an investigation has taken place.
