SA man convicted of trespassing near Mugabe residence

A South African has been arrested for trespassing at President Robert Mugabe's official residence in Harare. News Day reports that Adriaan Olivier, a professional hunter employed by Save Safaris in Bikita, was arrested along Borrowdale road at around 3am on Sunday last week. He was allegedly found in possession of at least nine live bullets. After appearing in the Harare Magistrates' Court, he received a two months jail-term or $150 fine for 'trespassing at President Robert Mugabe's official residence'. He was convicted on his own plea of guilty, but argued that he was 'not familiar with the rules and regulations of that area'. The road is only open to motorists between 6am and 6pm for security reasons. The Herald reports that Magistrate Lazini Ncube noted that Olivier was a first offender who did not waste the court’s time.
