Photographer snares alleged poachers

An Australian photojournalist has snared a Zimbabwean poaching syndicate. The Herald reports that Adrein Steirn told police that he met a poacher in the Zambezi valley while photographing wildlife and they set up a sting operation. On 15 February, police arrested two suspects who allegedly attempted to sell Steirn six elephant tusks vaued at $23 000. Faricken Madzinga and Tafadzwa Pamire have been charged with contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act. Magistrate Josephine Sande set a 31 May trial date.
