Senate President Bukola Saraki has asked Nigeria’s Supreme Court to quash the 12 December Appeal Court judgment which ordered him to face a tribunal for allegedly falsifying his declaration of assets. Saraki's lawyer Paul Usoro told the Premium Times that his client was seeking a declaration that the previous ruling on the matter by the tribunal was valid. Saraki was arraigned before the tribunal in 2015 and was later acquitted on all 18-count charges. However, the federal government appealed the decision of the tribunal that resulted in the Appeal Court ruling.
