Information and Culture Minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed says government will deploy 'cultural diplomacy' as a tool to target xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. ‘Nigeria is keen to work with South Africa to put an end to these attacks, deploying the soft power of cultural diplomacy,’ he said in Abuja on Friday after meeting Lulu Mnguni, the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria. A report on the allAfrica site notes that he said the National Council for Arts and Culture, the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation and the Nigerian Film Corporation will soon embark on a series of activities in South Africa to further strengthen the understanding between the two countries. These activities will include joint musical concerts, co-production in the area of films, visits by popular Nollywood actors and exhibitions featuring Nigerian delicacies.
