Mugabe's son-in-law in the dock

Former President Robert Mugabe's son-in-law, Simba Chikore, is an intimidating boss 'who would always make those around him tremble in fear', a Harare court has heard. As previously reported in Legalbrief Today, Chikore is facing kidnapping charges after he allegedly had Zimbabwe Airways legal head Bertha Zakeyo detained for two hours at the airline’s offices last June. This after he had decided to terminate her employment. New Zimbabwe reports that he is being tried along with security guard Simbarashe Mutimbe. The husband of Mugabe's daughter, Bona, was described by Zakeyo as a violent man. She said she was detained for two hours and could not get assistance because all employees at the company feared Chikore. 'The defence council maintains that I was not detained because that is their duty and I on the other hand know the traumatic experience I went through,' she said. The matter was postponed to 13 February.
