MP on the run after prison break

More than 3 000 prisoners are believed to have escaped from the DRC’s largest prison. Security sources also said several people were killed during Wednesday's attack on the Makala prison. BBC News reports that Ne Muanda Nsemi, leader of the political-religious sect Bundu Dia Kongo, is among those who escaped. Nsemi, who has also served as an MP, is seeking to revive the ancient Kongo kingdom and restore a monarchy in parts of DR Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, Angola and Gabon. He was charged with inciting violence in Kinshasa.
