Mnangagwa suspends prosecutions boss amid graft probe

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has suspended Prosecutor-General Advocate Ray Goba to pave the way for investigations into his suitability to hold office, says a report in The Herald. A tribunal has been constituted to investigate Goba on charges of failing to prosecute high-profile graft cases, travelling without Cabinet approval, using abusive language and general abuse of office, among other things. Secretary for Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Virginia Mabiza confirmed the development, saying Goba had not yet been replaced. The report notes Mnangagwa declared zero tolerance on corruption after taking office in November last year.
