Man accused of assaulting cleric

Malawian police have detained a 49-year-old Chikwawa man for allegedly accusing a Blantyre-based pastor of being a ‘bloodsucker and Satanist’ and physically assaulting him. A report on the allAfrica site notes that police spokesperson Foster Benjamin said it is alleged the suspect assaulted Pastor George Goliati on 21 October and is due to appear in court soon.
