Legislators snub national team after World Cup ‘mission’

Kenyans are angry at MPs and senators who attended the World Cup in Russia, but snubbed the national team on Saturday last week. Legislators Millicent Omanga, James Orengo, Kipchumba Murkomen, Cleophas Malala, Aaron Cheruiyot Peter Kaluma, Wafula Wamunyinyi and Victor Munyaka attended this year’s mega sporting event on the grounds that they wanted to raise the standard of football in Kenya. However, the Nairobi News reports that none of them were present when the Harambee Stars beat Ghana's Black Stars 1-0 in the capital. The report notes that opposition leader Raila Odinga and several of his party members cheered their nation from the stands.
