Lawyer seeks to have Constitution amended

Egyptian lawyer Ayman Ramadan has filed a court case to force Parliament to start a debate on amending a constitutional clause that bars President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi from running for a third term in 2022. A report on the News24 site notes that a Cairo court will hold its first hearing on the case on 23 December. The Constitution was adopted in 2014 soon after Sisi took power. He won a second four-year term this year and Ramadan is trumpeting his 'incredible' achievements.
