Lagos targets tax defaulters

The Lagos State government has vowed to enforce the state’s tax laws. The Guardian reports that Information and Strategy Commissioner Steve Ayorinde lamented the fact that many residents and companies are not paying their taxes which adversely affects the regional government's infrastructural renewal drive. Ayorinde said the government has directed its revenue agencies to target tax defaulters with immediate effect. This would enable the authorities to complete all ongoing projects on schedule. These include a transport interchange, the construction of a bus rapid transit lane and highway flyover and the construction of a networks of roads within the boundaries of the Lagos and Ogun States.
