German firm finds no evidence of corruption

Another German software company implicated in the #GuptaLeaks for alleged kickbacks to the Gupta family in exchange for parastatal contracts has concluded its legal review and claims ‘no evidence of corruption’ was found, but nevertheless parted ways with its sales director. A Rapport report notes that Software AG instructed law firm Adams & Adams to review its dealings with Global Softech Solutions (GSS), which was taken over by the Guptas’ Sahara Systems. It is the same company allegedly paid by SAP for favours to get huge Transnet contracts. Byung-Hhun Park, senior vice-president of Software AG, says there was a payment made to GSS in 2015 without ‘enough supporting documents’ and the company therefore instituted disciplinary proceedings against its sales director, Riaaz Jeena, who resigned before his hearing. Software AG declined to elaborate on the quantum of the payment or what it was for.
