Former Minister faces graft charges

Uganda's Inspector-General of Government (IGG) believes former Works Minister Abraham Byandala and six others accused of embezzling $6.5m from the government have a case to answer. New Vision reports that the funds were meant to upgrade the 72km Mukono-Katosi road. The IGG’s Director of Legal Affairs, Sarah Birungi, has asked the Anti-Corruption Court to charge the accused with theft and corruption. She was submitting the allegations before the Anti-Corruption court, presided over by Justice Lawrence Gidudu.
