Former First Lady slams 'witch-hunt'

Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has accused the Nigerian Government's anti-corruption agency of conducting an ‘unjustified witch-hunt’ against her. She claims the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is following a ‘sinister script to embarrass and browbeat’ her. This after the commission last year froze $15m in her bank account which she said was to intended to settle foreign medical bills. BBC News reports that Jonathan said that unlike other former first ladies who have launched initiatives to help the needy, her NGOs are ‘subjected to indefinite probe and microscopic scrutiny by the Buhari administration’.
