Football boss accused of graft

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has urged the Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate football’s governing body president Philip Chiyangwa for alleged corrupt activities. Association accountant Fabian Venganayi has accused Chiyangwa of ‘corruption, fraud, misappropriation, abuse of power, misconduct and lack of good corporate governance’. Court documents seen by The Standard revealed that Chiyangwa and some Zifa executive members had allegedly shielded assets and funds from creditors by moving them to other accounts. Zifa (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary company, was formed in 1982 to protect the fixed assets of the local football governing body.
